Ex-Malabon mayor’s son gunned down

December 22, 2018

THE son of former Malabon City Mayor Amado “Boy” Vicencio was shot dead by one of two masked men while two of his companions were wounded in a parking area of a cockfight arena yesterday before dawn in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief Senior Supt. Jessie Tamayao said Ariel Vicencio, 53, businessman, succumbed to bullet wounds in the head while being rushed to Manila Central University (MCU) hospital while two of his companions, Jomel Dela Cruz, 23, and Rolando Torres, 58, are now in stable condition.

Investigation conducted by PO3 Julius Mabasa and PO2 Philip Cesar Apostol showed that the victims were about to leave the Del Monte Cockpit Arena at the corner of Del Monte and Banana Roads, Brgy Potrero at around 3:15 a.m. when two men, wearing jackets and black bonnets with helmets, appeared and one of them shot Vicencio twice in the head before escaping with his companion.

Investigators are looking at business-related motive or personal grudge as being behind the killing. The Vicencio family owned the Del Monte Cockpit Arena.

The victim, along with five others, had been linked to the kidnapping of the wife and 4-year-old son of the manager of another cockfight arena on December 29, 2012.
