A former Quezon City policeman who had reportedly been dismissed from the service was killed by a still unidentified male suspect who stabbed him after a drinking spree in Tondo, Manila the other night.
In his report to Manila Police District (MPD) Director P/Senior Supt. Vicente Danao Jr., Chief Inspector Rommel Anicete, chief of the Manila Police District -homicide section, said that victim PO1 Jose Igig, 42, of Building 19, Unit 411, Vitas, Tondo, was found dead and sprawled on the ground at 8:05 p.m. by his nephew along Road 10, Scarborough, Katuparan in Vitas.
He was declared dead at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center (GABMMC) at 8:35 p.m., due to multiple stabwounds in the different parts of the body.
Investigation showed that the victim was last seen alive while having a drinking session with his friends in the said area.
Found on the crime scene were broken bottles of beer, an orange kitchen knife and a knife without a handle.
It was learned that Igig was formerly assigned in Quezon City who was dismissed from the service owing to a case of grave misconduct filed against him before the Office of the Ombudsman in 2010.
Danao said a thorough probe is underway to establish the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the killing.
