POLICE and representatives of Business and Permit Licensing Office (BPLO) has ordered the closure of a cosmetic surgery clinic where a patient died while undergoing liposuction yesterday morning in Makati City.
Makati police chief P/Col. Rogelio Simon and representatives of the City BPLO posted a closure order at the main door of Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting at 2nd Floor, South Park Plaza, Paseo De Magallanes, after authorities failed to serve the closure order since nobody was present, including the owner and staff, when they served the notice.
Col. Simon however clarified that the death of 43-year-old woman while undergoing liposuction last July 3 at the said clinic has nothing to do with the closure. He said the city government, during inspection and examination of the clinic’s documents, showed it has failed to secure necessary license and permit since 2011.
Police were able to post the notice of closure in the presence of barangay officials, BPLO representatives. building administrator and their staff past 11 a.m. yesterday.
As this developed, Col. Simon said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide was filed against Dr. Claudine Roura and anesthesiologist Katrina Bulseco before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office on complaint of Kristina Bobadilla, 20, daughter of victim Nory Bobadilla.
Investigators said the doctors invited for questioning failed to appear and only their lawyer, a certain Atty. Aguirre, came on their behalf.
Police said they will wait for the result of the autopsy examination conducted by PNP Crime Laboratory on the body of the victim before filing a case of medical malpractice against the doctors.
