A WOMAN accused of big-time swindling activities was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Office of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in an entrapment operation in Valenzuela City on Tuesday, a report to PNP-CIDG director, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.
Suspect Joanne Marie Salonga, a resident of no. 7 Forsythia Street, De Castro Subdivision in Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City yielded the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill during the sting conducted in a gasoline station in Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City at10 a.m. Tuesday, said CIDG-NCR chief, Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay.
According to Ibay, members of the Manila CIDG District Field Unit led by Major Delta Navarra arrested the suspect following a complaint from one Jay-r Caya.
The official said Caya complained that the suspect enticed him to invest money in a casino investment scheme in October 2019. The man said that he already had given the suspect some P410,000.
Ibay said the victim started suspecting that he has been victimized by a con artist when the ‘return of investment’ promised him by the suspect did not materialize.
When the suspect demanded an additional P5,000 as alleged ‘processing fee’ for the return of the complainant’s money, Caya sought the assistance of the CIDG-NCR in arresting the suspect.
Ibay said a team of officers from the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Intelligence Division and the Valenzuela City Police Station led by Captain Narrolf Tan assisted his men in arresting the suspect who is now facing a robbery-extortion case before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office.
