Fire hits Millionaires’ Compound in Caloocan

AT least 20 houses and 40 families were left homeless when a fire struck a residential area yesterday before dawn in Caloocan City.

Barangay 8 Chairman Honesto Gaton said the blaze struck at around 1:30 a.m. at a house located at the Millionaires Compound and quickly spread to adjacent houses made of light materials.

Caloocan Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arson investigator FO1 Zoren Cabagay said no one was reported killed or injured but the BFP pegged the structural damage at P150,000 while the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan ordered the local Social Welfare Development and City Health officials to render necessary assistance to the  fire victims who are now temporarily sheltered at the Barangay 8 covered court.
