A 32-YEAR-OLD fisherman was critically wounded after he was hit in the head with a piece of wood and stabbed on the neck by his own brother yesterday morning in Navotas city.

Charlie Obeja of 147 Gov. Pascual St. Pitong Gatang, Bgy. Sipac-Almacen was rushed by his live-in partner to Tondo Medical Center where he was placed under observation after being treated from stab wound on his neck and laceration on his head.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas said elements of Navotas Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 immediately conducted a follow-up operation resulting in the arrest of victim’s elder brother Rolan Obeja, 36 , but they failed to recover from him the bladed weapon used in stabbing the victim.

Investigation showed that at around 6 a.m., the suspect was inside his abode which is adjacent to the house of his younger brother when he heard the latter shouting on top of his voice and challenging him to a fist fight.

The suspect came out of his house and tried to pacify Charlie who later went home after his challenge was ignored by his brother.

However, the suspect followed his younger brother and while the latter stepped inside his house, he was hit with a piece of wood in the head and left arm by Charlie before grabbing a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim on his neck.

Col. Balasabas said investigators are yet to determine the motive behind the clash of the siblings.
