Freelance wedding coordinator sued by couple for breach of contract nabbed

A freelance wedding coordinator was sent to jail by a couple who just tied the knot three hours earlier after she allegedly took P130,000 in fee as the wedding was not what they expected in Pasig City Monday afternoon.

Reports from Pasig City Police identified the wedding coordinator as Krissa Ian Canena, 30, of 132 Bldg. 25, Centennial Village, Bgy. West Bicutan, Taguig City.

Canena was nabbed by members of the Pasig Police Community Precinct (PCP-10), led by PO1 John Daryl Mapili, right at the wedding reception at the Pasig City Revolving Tower in Bgy. San Nicolas at 5 p.m.

Mapili said the arrest was based on the complaint filed by Jan-Jing Chen and wife Melany three hours after they tied the knot at the INC Church in Bgy. Malinao, Pasig City, at around 2 p.m.

The couple claimed that the suspect did not follow what they had agreed as per their contract.
According to them, Canena was reportedly paid P130,000 for the extravagant ceremony but after the event, the couple were unhappy with her service and even the people they hired for their service were not yet paid.

“There was no flower arrangement in the church and venue, bridal car, souvenirs and the food was not enough to feed the entire guest list and the menu was not those written in the contract. The contractor for the utensils, photographer and the emcee for the reception was not yet paid either,” SPO2 Al Alvarez said.

It was learned that the suspect was only met by the couple online.

The couple called the police to arrest her while the reception was still ongoing.

Police quoted the suspect as saying that the couple expected too much on their wedding.

The suspect is now detained after charges were filed against her.
