November 17, 2018

A 47-year-old garbage collector and his nephew were killed by a neighbor with whom they  earlier had an argument during a drinking session in Tondo, Manila.

Victims Leonardo Mondelo, 47, of Building 25, Aroma Compound, Tondo and Raffy Mondelo Puntay, 24, of Building 9 Permanent Housing, Balut, Tondo, died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body.  The suspect, identified as Jessie Crisostomo, also of Tondo, was arrested.

A probe by the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station showed that the incident took place at around 1:05 a.m. at the second floor of Building 25 on Aroma Compound, near Mondelo’s home.

The victims were having a drinking session when the suspect arrived and repeatedly shot them from pointblank range.

A follow-up operation was conducted by authorities and the suspect was nabbed while wearing a face mask and bringing with him the .9mm  cal. gun that he allegedly used in the shooting incident.  Allegedly, he tried to resist arrest and fired at the direction of the police until he was cornered.

Senior Insp. Dave Abarra, chief of the Smokey Mountain Police Community Precinct (PCP), said the suspect refused to give any comment on the charges being levelled against him.

Police are looking into information that the two camps previously had an argument over who should be lording it over in their area.
