‘Gifts, adult toys yield millions of drugs —PDEA

MORE than a million peso worth of illegal drugs concealed in separate parcels marked as “gifts and adult toys” from Europe were seized by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Bureau of Customs agents at the Central Mail Exchange Center Monday afternoon in Pasay City.

PDEA chair Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said the first parcel declared as “Gift” was shipped by Bram de Lang of Adriaan Van Bergenstraat 228, 4811 SW Breda, Netherlands through DHL Parcel NL Am Eifeltor, 444 50997, Koln, Germany.

The parcel was consigned to Mark Lumanlan Chavez of No. 2662 Park Avenue Mansion, Park Avenue St., Unit 1430, Pasay City, contains around 547 grams of MethylEnedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) commonly known as Ecstasy, a psychoactive drug primarily used for recreational purposes.

The second parcel declared as “Adult Toys” has unknown shipper from 27 Welsh Row, Nantwich, Cheshire, United Kingdom. The shipment consignee was unknown but has an address at 120 Harvard and Stanford Streets, Provident Village, Barangay Jesus Dela Peña, Marikina City. It yielded around 28 grams of Kush, a high-grade marijuana derivative with an estimated standard drug price of P44,800.

The third parcel has no shipper’s details but consigned to Ken Kenneth Rosales of No. 2564 Tres Borces St., Mabolo, Cebu City. Villanueva said the parcel yielded more or less 500 pieces of Ecstasy tablets valued at P850,000.    

PDEA chief said he has ordered a thorough investigation into the names and addresses indicated in the parcels. Once proven they are not fictitious, the persons will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
