A 16- year-old girl whose face was bruised and disfigured and was apparently raped was found in a grassy lot Friday on Antipolo City.
Antipolo Police Community Precinct (PCP-2) Deputy Commander SPO3 Edwin Caimoso identified the victim as Rona May Castillo, Grade 10 student, and a resident of Old Boso-Boso, in Bgy. San Jose, Antipolo City.
Caimoso said the victim was strangled by still unidentified suspect with her school ID.
The victim’s body was discovered by a farmer in a grassy lot at Sitio Binayoyo, Barangay Calawis, at around 2 p.m. The farmer said he was cutting grass when he noticed a school bag.
He was about to check the bag when he saw a foot sticking out from the bush prompting him to immediately go to the authorities.
Barangay Chairman Allan Abonio said the victim was still wearing her school uniform. Her blouse was unbuttoned and her lower garments were removed raising suspicion the victim was raped.
The police noted that the victim’s face was disfigured and had bruises apparently caused by a hard object.
Caimoso said the girl was reported missing on Thursday. She went to the school in the morning and never returned home.
Police arrested three men persons of interest including the victim’s uncle reportedly the last person seen with the victim before she was discovered dead.
However, the victim’s uncle denied the allegations against him saying he treated the victim as one of his own children. He added that he was with one of the school teachers when he last saw the victim walk home from school.
Caimoso said they are still investigating the crime.
