A Grade 9 student is now in deep trouble for killing a 50-year-old pedicab operator, as he admitted having received P10,000 as payment for what he did.
The student, identified as Jessie Pallega, 18, Grade 9 student of Abad Santos High School and residing at 227 C.M. Recto in Tondo, reportedly admitted to the crime of shooting to death victim Rogelio Lipalam, of 424 JP Ortega St., Tondo, Manila, along Asuncion Street also in Tondo, the other night.
He also admitted before probers, led by SPO2 Richard Escarlan of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section, that he was tempted by the offer of money and that he merely concocted the story that the victim kicked him which was why he shot him.
The suspect told the police that a certain Ka Ian, allegedly a caretaker of one of the churches of the Iglesia ni Cristo, ordered him to do the killing and even gave him a .38-cal. gun. He said he was clueless as to the motive.
The shooting took place at around 8:20 p.m. in front of the Mang lnasal outlet near the Sto. Niño Church on Plaza Hernandez Street in Tondo.
According to the suspect, he waited for the right timing for four days before carrying out the crime.
The suspect is now in the custody of the police pending the filing of murder charges against him before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office (MPO).
