Gun seller killed in shootout, 2 cohorts arrested

A JOBLESS man involved in selling unlicensed firearms was killed in an encounter with authorities while two of his cohorts, including a woman, were arrested Monday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Northern Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Supt. Charlie Cabradilla identified the slain suspect as Ramil del Rosario, 40, of Blk. 2, Lot 18, Sawata Area 2, Bgy. 35, Maypajo, while his cohorts, Katherine Trinidad, 35, and Tracy Tolosa, 21, of Pritil, Tondo, Manila, were arrested after they were caught in the act of sniffing shabu.

CIDG desk officer SPO4 Wyrlo Gatok said that prior to the incident, elements of Northern District Field Unit (NDFU) led by Senior Insp. Jayson Quijana conducted a buy-bust operation against Del Rosario at 4:30 p.m. inside his house in Bgy. 35, Maypajo.

During transaction, SPO1 Mark Pasngadan who acted as poseur-buyer, together with PO2 Danilo Desder Jr., noticed Trinidad and Tolosa having a pot session. Del Rosario realized that he was dealing with poseur-buyers.

The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at the lawmen but missed, prompting the officers to retaliate, killing Del Rosario on the spot.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a caliber .9mm pistol with magazine loaded with four live ammunition, seven empty shells for cal.  .9mm, an empty shell for cal. .45 pistol, 17 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing undetermined quantity of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Supt. Cabradilla said a case for violation of RA 9165 will be filed against the suspects before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Ofce.
