‘High-value target’ drug suspect posing as DILG member arrested

ANOTHER suspected ‘high-value’ drug target in Metro Manila posing as a member of the Department of Interior and Local Government was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office during a recent buy-bust operation in Las Piñas City.

NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said bartender Elmer Lasotas Lat, 42, of No. 26 Pili Homes, Cadena de Amor Street in Pasay City, was arrested at the Manila Doctors Village Road in Barangay Almanza Uno after he sold drugs to an undercover officer of the NCRPO’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Special Operations Unit.

Eleazar said that the suspect yielded eight small heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000, the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill, assorted drug paraphernalia, a loaded pistol, five pieces of plastic sachets containing suspected shabu residue, a black jacket with the ‘DILG’ logo and a PNP bull ring with PSBRC Batch 2022 logo.

The operation stemmed from an information that the suspect often introduced himself as a member of the DILG and displayed his gun to conceal his illegal drug activities.

Eleazar said the suspect will be charged for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and usurpation of authority.
