FEMALE Highway Patrol Group personnel will beef-up the PNP-HPG’s presence along the 23.8-kilometer long EDSA, PNP-HPG director, Brigadier General Eliseo DC Cruz told the Journal Group yesterday.
The official said the HPG Patrolwomen have been plucked out from HPG administrative offices and fielded in strategic parts of the major thoroughfare not only to help direct traffic but also to ensure round-the-clock visibility to deter carjackings, highway robbery and hijackings.
“I have ordered the recall of all HPG Patrolmen from their administrative duties in order for them to conduct real highway patrol duties,” Cruz said.
The policewomen are trained HPG Riders or be part of HPG mobile cars stationed in traffic-prone areas in Quezon City, Makati, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Caloocan and San Juan cities.
Cruz said that they are fully coordinating with the Metro Manila Development their traffic enforcement on EDSA specifically Cubao, Q.C., Buendia, Magallanes and Guadalupe in Makati, Balintawak, Q.C., in front of SM North and along Greenhills area.
The official has vowed round-the-clock HPG patrols to arrest incidents of carjackings, highway robberies and hijackings in the country.
