Isko Moreno

MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday called on all city officials and employees to consider themselves lucky and make use of their positions as public servants to be fully of help to others.

‘Saan kayo nakakita, nabigyan na kayo ng oportunidad na maglingkod sa kapwa, may sweldo pa? Hindi lahat ay nabibigyan ng ganyang klaseng oportunidad,’ Moreno said during yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony.

The mayor also urged all City Hall employees and officials to have the kind of mindset where they learn to appreciate whatever they have in life instead of fretting over what they lack in order to have a happy disposition in life and work attitude.

As public servants, Moreno said those working in City Hall should make sure that when they deal with people who go to them for help, they would be part of the solution.

In saying so, Moreno said the pleasure of being of service and help to those who need them must be the mindset of all those employed in City Hall regardless of the position they hold.

He also urged the practice of discipline and orderliness in the discharge of duties, saying it can be started by having an organized and clean desk at all times.

Meanwhile, 18 parking attendants were relieved by the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) for improperly charging parking fees from motorists, not wearing proper uniforms, proper identification cards and  having attitude problems.  The relief was based on complaints lodged against them.
