THE Manila Parking and Traffic Bureau (MTPB) was commended by Mayor Isko Moreno for increasing the bureau’s collection from P39 million during the previous administration to P113.2 million under the present administration.
Moreno said this is one proof that whatever is collected from parking, receipts are issued properly and the money goes into the city treasury and not to the pockets of certain individuals just like in the past.
In his meeting with heads of departments, bureaus and offices, Moreno said the MTPB under Dennis Viaje can be given a mark of “summa cum laude” for their performance.
A Comparative Statement of Revenues prepared by city treasurer Jasmin Talegon showed that the MTPB under Viaje collected more than P113.2 million from July 1, 2019 to May 31, compared to the P39 million income generated by the same bureau for the same period of from July 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019 or during the previous administration.
Talegon also reported that the city government under Moreno was able to increase the total collection by P690 million.
The city treasurer headed by Talegon increased collection by P89 million for a total of P5.2 billion while the city general services office (CGS0) headed by Thelma Perez also registered an increase of P499 million compared to last year’s collection.
Meanwhile, Moreno approved the recommendation of Viaje to set the parking rate in the city to P50, although the mayor clarified that this does not mean he is encouraging parking on the streets.
