Isko donates modeling fee to children with cancer

MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday donated a total of P30 million for children suffering from cancer and biliary atresia at the Philippine General Hospital.
PGH authorities said the amount was so far the biggest single donation received by the hospital making Moreno the biggest single donor in the history of PGH.
The bulk of the donation which is P24.5 million came from the proceeds of a golf tournament organized by third district Manila Councilor Letlet Zarcal. Added to this was a check payment made by jeans company Jag to Moreno for modeling their product.
Moreno together with Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Zarcal handed over the donation.
Meanwhile, Moreno and Lacuna gave tricycle driver Benjie Ordanza, 42, of Baseco Compound, Manila, a P100,000 cash reward for returning the backpack of his passenger Zhang Lei, 26, containing over P1.2 million.
Ordanza said he took the Chinese to Quiricada Street and was already resting when he noticed the bag left behind by Lei. He was shocked to find bundles of money inside. He went to second district Councilor Darwin Sia to help him return the bag to Lei through the office of Mayor Isko Moreno.
Through the help of Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMART) chief Maj. Jhun Ibay they were able to locate Lei.
Ordanza said he was inspired by Moreno’s call for change.
