MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno drove a patrol car and conducted a random inspection of night activities in the city from past midnight yesterday up to near dawn.
Amid a drizzle, Moreno drove the mobile car being used by the special mayor’s reaction team (SMART) under its head, Lt. Col. Jhun Ibay, who accompanied the mayor.
Moreno used the vehicle’s public address system to remind those he came across with on the streets, to wear their face masks properly and observe physical distancing. The residents were gladly surprised at the sight of their mayor visiting them and functioning even during the very early hours of the day.
Moreno, who now sleeps at the Manila City Hall again since the number of COVID-19 cases in the city again soared to unprecedented numbers, drove to and from the Manila City Hall.
He went around the Tondo area and checked the goings-on at the busy Divisoria area, where he kept calling on those present to wear their face masks properly and observe safe distance from one another, telling them that practicing the protocols properly is the key so they can do business again the following day.
Ibay said the mayor visited CEU Mendiola, Sampaloc, Blumentritt, Maceda, Solis, Gagalangin, Solis, Smokey Mountain, Herbosa, Velasquez, Panday Pira, Moriones, Kagitingan, Recto and other inner streets.
The mayor also took the opportunity to know first-hand how the curfew hours are being implemented in the city by various barangays.
He also chanced upon motorcycle riders not wearing helmets, admonished and obliged them to wear their head protection and lauded barangay officials who were roving or manning their posts while implementing the curfew.Publication Source : People's Tonight
