MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna graced Wednesday’s activation of two additional Manila Police District (MPD) stations with a call for the newly-designated station commanders to run after violators of peace and order in their areas of responsibility.
In his speech, Moreno welcomed the addition of two new police stations which he said was a first in his more than two decades as a public servant in Manila.
The MPD-Station 12 covering Del Pan in Tondo will be headed by PLt.Col Evangeline Martos while Station 13 in Baseco, Tondo will be under PLt.Col.Rolando Bumagat.
During the simple ceremony held at the Quirino Grandstand, Moreno also thanked the entire MPD force, headed by District Director Gen. Rolly Miranda, for having been dedicated frontliners working hand-in-hand with the city government since the pandemic began.
He said the new addition to the police stations at the MPD will tilt the scales of balance between the number of criminals and policemen serving in the city.
“Ubusin ninyo ang mga tolongges diyan…walang abuso pero wala rin tayong papayagang mang-aabuso. Sa lahat ng kriminal na nakatira sa Baseco, kung me natitira pa sa inyo after one year na dedikasyon ng pulis sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan sa lugar na ‘yan, magbago na kayo o umalis kayo sa Maynila. Wala kayong puwang dito. Di kayo sasantuhin ng pulis-Maynila,” said the mayor said.
