MANILA is now home to the biggest center giving free dialysis, in the entire country.

Yesterday, Mayor Isko Moreno began his 45th birthday with former Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, along with Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center director  Dr. Ted Martin, as he led the inauguration of the said center named,  ‘Flora V. Valisno de Siojo Dialysis Center.’  Valisno is the late grandmother of Lim who founded and built the said hospital.

Lim thanked Moreno for honoring his grandmother, whom he said is the person closest to his heart, as she was the one who virtually raised him.

The former mayor also said Moreno is highly-qualified to become a future president of the country, given his kind of governance, but the idea was politely declined by Moreno in an interview, saying while he is flattered for Lim’s high regard for his capacity, he intends to finish three terms as mayor of Manila.

For his part, Moreno said: ‘Isa itong maliit na pagkilala sa 12 taong serbisyo ni Mayor Lim sa Maynila. Makikilala ngayon itong ‘Siojo Dialysis Center’ bilang pinakamalaki sa Pilipinas.’

Moreno said the new center houses 91 dialysis machines which may even be increased to 100 and is bigger than the National Kidney Institute, so that it will be able to accommodate many poor patients as possible, providing ample number of sessions for the required number of days, all for free.

Moreno thanked Lim for having built the hospital, adding: ‘Wag po kayong mag-alala. ‘Yung mga bagay na dapat tularan, eh tinutularan natin. Pipilitin nating mahigitan pero ang minimum eh tutularan natin.’

Moreno said naming the dialysis center after Lim’s grandmother was enacted into law via a city ordinance, under the tutelage of Vice Mayor Lacuna in her concurrent capacity as the city council’s presiding officer.
