A DONATION board will soon be set up by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to accommodate everyone who wants to donate to the city government and encourage all Manilans to be part of the programs meant to bring the city back up on its feet.
Moreno said that on the said board, all contributions and donations made to the city since he assumed mayorship last June 30 will be listed down for purposes not only of giving due recognition but also of transparency and serving as an inspiration for others to emulate.
‘Kasi ‘yung mga iba, baka gustong magbigay ng sampung piso. We welcome every donation and contribution. Hindi ka naman makakabuo ng isang milyon kung kulang ng piso,’ he notes, stressing that every act of support for the city is highly appreciated.
According to Moreno, the outpouring of support, materially and financially, has been highly awesome and inspiring, as a great number of people both here and abroad have been offering all sorts of help for the past several months
‘Natutuwa po tayo na ang mga tao ay naniniwala at nakikilahok na sa gobyerno at may pagnanais na tumulong sa maliit nilang kaparaanan,’ Moreno said, adding that even overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), children and non-Manilans send contributions that come from their own pockets, ranging from a few hundred bucks up to six or even seven-digit figures.
So far, Moreno said the cash donations from individual private citizens has reached over P13 million, which is a mixture of peso coins and bills, dollars and personal checks.
