MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has joined the calls for all Filipinos to set aside bickerings in the meantime and instead focus on supporting our athletes in whatever way we can, now that the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games has begun.
In his message, Moreno said that amid the allegations and negative side issues being raised, everybody’s foremost concern must be to make Filipino athletes feel that we are rooting and cheering for them.
‘Ang atin naman, di naman perpekto ang gobyerno—lahat naman ng uri— pero kung anuman ang mga ‘yan (allegations), mga alingasngas, siguro pinakamaganda dyan for now, ano na lang tayo, suportahan muna natin ‘yung mga atleta,’ the mayor said.
‘Hayaan natin, anuman ang maging resulta ng laban nila (athletes), iparamdam natin sa kanila na mahal sila ng bansang Pilipinas at mga kapwa natin Pilipino sa buong mundo at the very least, Moreno added.
Moreno also invited the public to post in social media messages of support for the Filipino athletes in order to boost their morale. He himself had posted one.
Meanwhile, Moreno announced that in view of the SEA Games events that will be held in Manila, the Universidad de Manila and Pamantasan ng Lungsod Maynila (PLM) will have no classes from December 2 to 7.
