THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) yesterday ordered traffic enforcers to intensify operations against “isnabero“ or choosy taxi and transportation network vehicle service drivers at malls during Christmas.
LTO-National Capital Region-East chief Director Benjamin Santiago III said traffic enforcers are deployed in commercial centers and malls in his area to strictly implement the order of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and LTO chief Edgar Galvante to assist commuters especially now at the peak of the holiday season.
Under the nationwide “Oplan Isnabero” launched by the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic, picky taxi or TNVS drivers can be apprehended and fined for denying passengers a ride.
Traffic enforcers are also tasked to assist passengers and make sure drivers are following the regulations.
Santiago said aside from his traffic enforcers, all district heads and their respective personnel are tasked to go out and personally supervise traffic in their areas.
“Lalo na sa mga churches, supermarkets, at mga malls, doon sa mga mataong, lugar kung saan nagpupunta mga kababayan natin mag-relax,” said Santiago.
“Enjoy the holiday season and we take care of your safety.
“Kami na ang personal na bibisita sa mga garahe at terminals para personal na mai-inspection ng mga bus, taxi, vans, truck, at iba pang PUVs,” he added.
