Janitor, ex-overseas Filipino worker hang selves

A JANITOR working at the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in Intramuros, Manila, was found hanging dead inside its stockroom.

The victim was identified as Jonard Peranca, 19, of Blk. 9, Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila. 

Initial investigation by Det. Joel Jasareno, of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section, said that at around 6 a.m., the MPD-Baseco Police Community Precinct received a report of a suicide inside the stockroom of the CBCP compound located at 470 General Luna St. in Intramuros.

Police said Peranca was last seen alive at around 7 p.m. on November 20 when he entered the said stockroom which is being occupied by his father, who also works there as a janitor.

It was the victim’s father who later found him dead and who immediately cut the nylon cord which was used to hang himself.

An investigation is underway while the results of the body’s autopsy is being awaited, police said.

Meanwhile, a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who allegedly suffered from depression committed suicide by hanging Tuesday night in Caloocan City.

The lifeless body of Sherlyn Dauz, 31, was discovered by her live-in partner Albert Encipido, 31, inside the bedroom of their house in Sitio Manggahan, Brgy. 171, Bagumbong Dulo at around 6:45 p.m.

The victim was discovered in kneeling position on their wooden bed with a rope loop around her neck and the other end was tied to the steel brace of the ceiling.

Elements of Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 6 composed of PO1 Jeffrey Mendoza and PO1 Ryan Albert Dapadap who responded to the area said homicide probers were still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine if there was foul play involved in the incident.
