OPERATIVES from the Manila Police District-Station 10 arrested a namesake of television host Joey de Leon who has a standing warrant of arrest in connection with a rape case he is facing in Makati City.
De Leon, 45, a former family driver and residing in Bgy. Osorio, Trece Martirez, Cavite, was nabbed around 5 p.m along Kalayaan Avenue in Pasong Tamo, Makati City based on an arrest warrant issued by Judge Albert Tenorio, Jr. of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 14, where he is facing rape charges.
It was learned that De Leon is number two in the ‘most wanted’ list of the police in Pandacan and that he had been in hiding since the charges were filed against him months ago.
Police said De Leon was working as a truck delivery driver in Makati City prior to his arrest and had been transferring from one residence to another to evade authorities.
De Leon is now detained at the MPD-Station 10 while awaiting a commitment order to the Manila City Jail. No bail was recommended for his provisional liberty.
