A BARANGAY kagawad was killed by two unidentified gunmen who shot him inside a barangay hall in Sampaloc, Manila Thursday evening.
Antonio Calma Jr., 43, a barangay kagawad and officer-in-charge of Barangay 484, Zone 48, Sampaloc, residing at No. 1829 Simoun Street, Sampaloc, died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds. The two suspects who escaped were said to be wearing hooded jackets, ball caps and face masks.
Investigation by the Manila Police District-homicide section said the shooting incident took place at around 10:30 p.m. inside the barangay hall located on Algeciras Street in Sampaloc.
Barangay Kagawad Errol Dela Cruz told the police he was chatting with the victim when the two suspects barged into the hall and repeatedly fired at the victim who was then seated on a chair. No other one got hit.
The suspects escaped aboard a red Toyota Innova which was backed up by a grey Pajero-type SUV. Both had no plates and headed toward an unknown direction.
Authorities were able to recover 14 spent shells from an unknown calibre of firearm.
Police are determining the motive for the crime and currently studying the CCTV footages of the incident.
