A WANTED ‘fixer’ at the Land Transportation Office was arrested by members of the Regional Special Operations Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office on orders of the court on Wednesday afternoon near the LTO headquarters in Quezon City, NCRPO director, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said yesterday.

Suspect Lita Galera, a 43-year old purported LTO liaison officer residing at no. 292 Riverside Extension, Unit 4 in Commonwealth, Q.C. was arrested inside her house no. 40 in Malakas Street corner Maunawain Street in Barangay Pinyahan, Q.C. at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday, said the official.

Eleazar said that the suspect was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Don Ace Mariano Alagar  for estafa on September 28 last year. An P18,000 bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

The NCRPO director said that the arrest was made shortly after a complainant sought the help of the NCRPO-RSOU in apprehending the wanted estafa artist. The suspect was accused of duping lots of people transacting with the LTO.

In particular, the complainant who surfaced at the NCRPO-RSOU office said that she paid a huge amount of cash to the suspect who promised to help the speedy processing of her
taxi franchises.

The victim said that the suspect failed to produce her taxi papers and refused to return her money prompting her to file a criminal complaint against Galera.

Eleazar called on other persons victimized by the suspect to come to their office and file additional complaints against the latter who will be held at the NCRPO-RSOU lock-up facility pending her posting of bail.
