Land Transportation Office taps Highway Patrol Group to help ease EDSA traffic

June 06, 2019

TO ease traffic along the stretch of EDSA from Cubao, Quezon City to Makati City, 36 additional personnel from PNP-Highway Patrol Group will be deployed on Monday.

This was announced by lawyer Clarence Guinto, Director of Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region-West after he personally turned over Temporary Operating Permit (TOPs) tickets and signed deputization of the PNP-HPG personnel, yesterday.

Dir. Guinto said the deployment of additional TMG personnel is part of the combined program of LTO-NCR-West and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) member Antonio Gardiola to make traffic easier in the said portion of EDSA.

“That is the primary objective of the group, because we know for a fact that from Cubao to Makati and vice versa has always been a problem,” said Guinto.

“Dito ang bottle/neck especially during rush hours morning and afternoon until night time,” said Guinto.

The deployment and presence of HPG in the area will augment the current traffic personnel manning the entire EDSA, and we hope in the next days the LTO-NCR-West would deputize more HPG men on EDSA.

“For now 36 muna at puro young blood ang mga ito to assist and help motorists and our friendly forces in the vicinity, tulong tulong tayong lahat dito kasama of course ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA),” said Guinto.
