FEBRUARY is expected to be a month for love but not for the consumers who will shoulder price increase of cooking and auto liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) effective at 12:01 a.m. yesterday.

Petron Corporation announced that they will increase the price of their Gasul and Fiesta Gas at P3.88 per kilo that would translate to P42.68 for every regular 11-kilo LPG cylinder.

Aside from cooking gas, Petron also implemented an increase of P2.17 per liter of their Xtend auto LPG which is commonly used by LPG fueled taxis.

Solane and other independent retailers from Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers Association (LPGMA) have yet to announce an adjustment although they are expected to follow the same price increase.

The increase, according to Petron Corporation, reflects the movement in international market of contract price.
