AN 80-year-old man killed his wife and grandson before shooting himself to death inside the well-secured National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) on Thursday afternoon in Mandaluyong City.
Mandaluyong police chief Mandaluyong Police chief Col. Moises Villaceran Jr. identified the victims as Wilfredo Ocampo, his wife Cecilia, 48, and grandson Joshua Anthony, 27, all residents of Northville , Batasan Hills , Quezon City.
Police said Wilfredo and Joshua died on the spot while the grandmother died while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s infirmary.
Villaceran said the couple went to the NCMH at around 2:43 p.m. to visit Joshua who was admitted at the facility two years ago.
Wilfredo was able to sneaked in a caliber .45 pistol placed in a brown envelope. Investigation showed he was a frequent visitor at the NCMH and apparently gained the trusts of the security guards.
While at the Ward 1, Pavillion 6 of NCMH, Wilfredo and Cecilia were talking to their grandson and allegedly arguing when the old man drew a gun and shot his grandson before shooting his wife. Villaceran then shot himself in the head.
The police recovered from the scene a caliber .45 pistol, one magazine loaded with three bullets and five spent shells and three slugs.
The Department of Health said they are investigating the incident and had taken measures to tighten the security at the hospital.
