A 59-year-old man was killed by his own son who repeatedly stabbed him inside their home in Tondo, Manila yesterday.
Victim Nonito Orlain was rushed to the hospital but died while being treated for stabwounds in the face, chest and other parts of the body. His 30-year-old son Oliver, was nabbed during a follow-up operation by the police.
Investigation by the Manila Police District-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (MPD-CAPIS) showed the incident took place at around 12 noon at the vicinity of the Tondo Sports Complex on N. Zamora Street near the corner of Chacon Street in Tondo near the Orlains’ residence.
Prior to the stabbing, the victim and his live-in partner were reportedly preparing their meal and even asked the suspect to join them.
To their surprise, the suspect left and then moments later returned already armed with a 12-inch knife and with it repeatedly stabbed the victim.
The victim’s partner told the police she tried stopping the suspect by hitting him with an umbrella but that it did not work.
As the suspect casually walked away from the crime scene, the victim’s partner sought help and had the victim brought to the hospital.
Moriones Police Station 2 operatives later arrested the suspect.
