A 42-year-old construction worker who was accused of sexually molesting his own niece was arrested by police before noon Friday in Pasay City.

Pasay City police chief P/Col. Bernard Yang said Leoncio Lagumot Jr. was nabbed by elements of Kalayaan Police Community Precinct (PCP) after the 6-year-old victim narrated her ordeal to her 67-year-old grandmother who immediately sought the assistance of lawmen.

Lagumot was turned over to the custody of Pasay Police Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) pending the filing of charges for Statutory Rape in relation to R.A. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police said the incident happened past 11 a.m. while the victim was left under the care of her uncle at their house in Central Kalayaan.

When the victim’s grandmother Jocelyn arrived, the victim told her that her uncle sexually abused her, prompting the former to seek police assistance that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
