Man kills 2 brods over house row

TWO brothers -- a lawyer and a businessman siblings were killed by their elder brother before setting their house on fire after a heated argument over real estate property in Marikina City on Friday night.

Eastern Police District (EPD) director, Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba identified the victims as Enrico Soriano, 60, lawyer: brother Felicito, 72, both single who were found inside their burned house at No. 21 Peru St, Greenheights Subd. Bgy. Concepcion Uno, Marikina City at around 11:15 p.m.

The victim’s elder brother identified as Nilo Soriano, 77, and retired maintenance engineer was arrested after the firemen had contained  the blaze.

The suspect suffered 3rd degree burn in the body and is now being treated at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMCC).  

Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the Soriano brothers were having breakfast when they engaged in an argument over the ownership of their house at around 8:30 a.m.

Police said, the Soriano’s house helper, one Wilfreda Regonas, 47, informed them that the elder brother threatened his two siblings while holding a handgun.

The brothers’ argument lasted until 10:30 p.m. when the suspect shot and killed his younger siblings.

Regonas tried to intervene but the suspect also threatened to shoot her, prompting her to leave the house.

While leaving, she said she saw the suspect douse a gas and set aflame his two siblings inside their house while lying on the pavement.

The whole house was immediately engulfed by the fire.

Regonas called the Marikina City Fire Department. Led by Fire Insp Jose Warren Frivaldo, the firemen managed to put out the fire before it reached the first alarm at around 11:15 pm.

The fireman also prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent houses.

After the mopping operation, the victims’ bodies were found trapped inside the living area of their burned house with gunshot wounds in the bodies.

The suspect also got burned but survived.

Authorities also discovered an unknown gun at the crime scene.

The police said, helper reported that the three siblings were always arguing over their real estate property.

Charges of arson and death will be readied against the suspect who is still in the hospital.
