POLICE continue to remind the public to be vigilant against entertaining strangers to avoid being duped, particularly by members of notorious “Budol-Budol Gang”.
This after a 54-year-old man was the latest victim of the gang in Pasig City who lost some P300,000 in cash the other day.
Police identified the victim as Gregorio Paracale, of Bgy Kalawaan, Pasig City.
Investigation showed that Paracale just left the building of SSS Pioneer Center in Bgy. Kapitolyo, when an unidentified woman approached and befriended him.
The victim was asked by the woman to help her buy canned goods for the victims of the Cebu landslide.
Afterwards, the suspects invited the victim to board a vehicle and enticed him to show his bankbook while offering cash to him.
The suspects was able to convince Paracale to withdraw P300,000, which he did.
In exchange, the suspects gave him an envelope allegedly containing the money.
After the transaction, the victim was instructed to wait for them to come back.
But hours had past but the suspects did not return until he decided to open the envelope which only contained magazines. He realized he was duped by the suspects.
The old man immediately reported the incident at the Pasig Police Station.
Police continue reminding the public, “Don’t talk to strangers, and report immediately to the nearest police station any suspicious acts so as not to become a victim of the “Budol-Budol Gang”.
