IT’s official. The city government of Manila has formally acquired COVID-19 vaccines for 400,000 residents and ordered 12 refrigeration system units for vaccine storage.
During his speech at yesterday’s regular flag-raising ceremony, Moreno announced that he has already signed papers presented by city general services office (CGSO) chief Thelma Perez for the acquisition not only of the freezer units but also of 50 units of transport coolers where the vaccines may be put while in transport to protect their efficacy.
Perez said the freezers and transport coolers worth about P8 million may also be used by the six city-run hospitals even after COVID is gone.
The mayor also said that the city is also now building a “Manila COVID-19 Storage Facility” at the Sta. Ana Hospital headed by its director, Dr. Grace Padilla to serve as the depository of the COVID vaccines where their integrity may be protected. It is also home to the city’s Manila Infectious Disease Control Center (MIDCC) also under Padilla’s stewardship.
Moreno said he had closed the deal with established pharamaceutical companies “and we will continue to acquire other possible effective, safe and efficient vaccines for the people of Manila and aakapin din natin lahat ng di taga-Maynila kapag dumadapo sila sa Maynila.”
“This (COVID-19) is a universal problem that must be approached inclusively,” the mayor said, adding that for the past ten months, the local government, also through the initiative of Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, had been giving free COVID testing to Manilans and non-Manilans.
“We will do the same. Kaawaan tayo ng Diyos…aakapin natin ang iba pag me pangamba sila.. Alay ko din sa inyo ang first pre-registration for a slot in the vaccination dahil nakita natin ang hangad ng tao. With the help of President Rodrigo Duterte, IATF and vaccine czar Sec.(Carlito) Galvez (Jr.) and Health Secretary (Francisco) Duque working hand-in-hand with the city government, we will pursue our plans,” Moreno said.
“While waiting and hopeful for the vaccine, hanggang wala, maging responsible individuals tayo sa lahat ng ating ikinikilos. Mas matalino kayo sa virus. Our government may not be perfect, but we will not stop. ‘Wag ninyong sayangin ang ten months na sakripisyo. Always observe health protocols,” Moreno added.Publication Source : People's Tonight
