Manila Police District station 11 officials axed for ‘protecting’ illegal vendors

MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has recommended the relief of nine officials from the Manila Police District (MPD)-Meisic Police Station 11 after they were found allowing illegal vendors to sell again on the streets previously cleared by the city government.

In a press conference, Moreno asked MPD Director BGen Vicente Danao, Jr. to relieve former PS-11 chief Lt. Col. Antonietro Eric Mendoza; Maj. Robinson Maranion, Maj. Alden Lee Panganiban, Capt. Jerry Garces, Capt. Bernardino Venturina, Capt. Manuel Calleja, Lt. Jerry Caneda, Lt. Maricel Pili and Lt.Maribel Fiedacan.

Danao immediately recommended the replacement of these officers, designating Lt. Col. Noel Calderon Aliño as MPD-Station 11 chief while Maj. Salvador Bagne Tangdol was designated as the new San Nicolas PCP Commander and Capt. Manolito Vedana Flores as Juan Luna PCP Commander.

Moreno said he recommended the relief of the nine police officers after learning that the policemen allowed the illegal vendors to go back on the streets a few hours after he left the area and after the clearing operation last week.

“Dalawa lamang yan, its either natutulog sila sa trabaho o nag-e-engage sila (sa ilegal na aktibidad),” he said.  “Ang di makiisa sa pagbabalik ng mga lansangan sa mga tao, has no business to stay,” Moreno warns.

Meanwhile, Moreno yesterday asked the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to deport and ban Chinese national Chito Villaluz Keng, 45, for urinating in a public place in Tondo and for assaulting a barangay tanod who informed him that he was violating an ordinance.

Keng was urinating when an unidentified barangay tanod called his attention. This angered the suspect and hit the barangay tanod. Some barangay tanod in the area noticed the commotion and arrested the suspect.

“To all foreigners, it is immaterial what country you came from. Please make sure that if you go to Manila, you need to follow simple rules. It is a generally-accepted rule that you don’t pee on the streets because it is prohibited. You will be arrested because that is illegal,” Moreno said.
