THE city government of Manila yesterday received six brand new SWAT (special weapons and tactics team) assault vehicles worth P12 million from a Filipino-Chinese organization.
The vehicles were received by mayor Isko Moreno, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Secretary to the Mayor Bernie Ang and were immediately turned over to Gen. Rolly Miranda, chief of the Manila Police District so they can be put to use at once by the SWAT team.
Moreno expressed gratitude to the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (FFCCCII) represented by CEO and VP Cecilio Pedro, vice president Victor Lim, external affairs committee chair Nelson Guevarra and member Jefferson Lau, for the donation of the six assault vehicles which he said will go a long way to aid the MPD in its operations aimed at keeping the peace and order situation in Manila.
Ang, who coordinated the donation, said the FFCCCII has expressed confidence and support to the efforts being exerted by Moreno for the welfare of Manilans.
Ang added that the donation of six Hi-Lux vehicles worth P2 million each is also the group’s little way of thanking the mayor for the protection being given by the city to all Filipino-Chinese businessmen and for making it easy for them to do business in Manila.
Before receiving the donation, Moreno stressed in his speech that the contributions being made by the private groups such as the FFCCCII are highly appreciated, as he assured that all such help are being used to the fullest.
The mayor also stressed that the cooperation of the public and various private groups during the pandemic have definitely gone a long way to help sustain the city’s programs concerning public services and peace and order.Publication Source : People's Tonight
