GOOD news for barangay captains in Quezon City’s first district.

The QC Council has passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Herbert Bautista to grant P250,000 financial assistance to the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in the district.

Resolution 7589-2018 introduced by Councilors Anthony Peter Crisologo, Lena Marie Juico, Elizabeth Delarmente, Victor Ferrer Jr., Oliviere Belmonte, Alexis Herrera, Noe Lorenzo Dela Fuente III and Alfredo Roxas further support barangays in enacting beneficial programs for their constituents.

According to the councilors, the resolution is also necessary to support the attainment of the organization’s objectives.

The ABC’s main objective is to formulate, coordinate and implement programs, projects and activities beneficial to the members, their families and for the general welfare of QC residents.

“In order to fulfill their mandate and defray the cost of their various programs and projects, there is a need to fund the organization’s administrative and activity expenses,” the resolution reads.

In accordance with the Local Government Code of 1991, local chief executives, upon the authority of Sanggunian, can negotiate and secure financial grants or donations in kind from local and foreign assistance agencies in support of the basic services of facilities enumerated under the Code’s Section 17.
