More trial courts placed on COVID-19 lockdown

MORE trial court branches have been placed on lockdown after their personnel separately tested positive for COVID-19 during reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction or swab testing.

The Calamba City Regional Trial Court Branch 34 will be closed from October 12 to 23, according to a memorandum issued by Executive Judge Caesar Buenagua.

This after an employee of the said branch tested positive for COVID-19. Court will resume operations on October 26. During the lockdown, all staff have been directed to undergo swab tests and observe strict home quarantine. The court shall continue to operate through its hotline numbers and emails.

The court may also conduct video conference hearings and accept pleadings through electronic filing pursuant to existing circulars issued by the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Balanga City RTC Branch 2 will be closed from October 11 to October 25 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The judge and staff have been required to undergo swab tests and to stay at home during the 14-day quarantine period. During such period, the court may conduct hearings thru videoconferencing, the memorandum of Executive Judge Marion Jacqueline Poblete read.
