MANILA Mayor-elect Isko Moreno and former Mayor Alfredo S. Lim yesterday decided to throw politics behind them and work together for a better Manila.
Moreno also met with outgoing Mayor Erap Estrada in the afternoon along with the mayor-elect’s transition team led by incoming Secretary to the Mayor Councilor Bernie Ang and incoming City Administrator Felix Espiritu.
Moreno and Lim met over lunch where Moreno sought Lim’s advice in handling the peace and order and primary services of the city.
Moreno, who thanked Lim for agreeing to meet with him, told the former mayor that the police were already advised of the upcoming clearing operation of street and sidewalk vendors. Moreno said this is also the main reason why public utility jeepney drivers were cutting their trips because of heavy traffic caused by vendors occupying the streets.
One of the biggest problems of the incoming administration is the city’s outstanding liability of P204,215,076.45 to the GSIS, representing employee contributions that had not been remitted since Estrada took office in 2013.
Moreno’s meeting with Estrada lasted for about 10 minutes after the original schedule which was set Friday last week was cancelled.
