Motorist arrested for destroying clamp

THE Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau clamping division arrested a 42-year-old motorist Thursday morning when he insisted on moving his vehicle after it was clamped on Tayuman Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, thus destroying the clamp.

Facing charges for violation of Article 327 of the Revised Penal Code (malicious mischief and damage to property) is Willy Santillan, of Block 43, Lot 4, Mabuhay Homes, Phase 2-E, Barangay Dila, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Clamping Division personnel Gerald Ochoa and Ronald Medina said that at around 8:45 a.m., the MTPB was conducting clearing operations along Tayuman Street in Sta. Cruz when they spotted Santillan’s illegally-parked vehicle.

It was clamped and when Santillan arrived, he boarded and started the engine and moved it, causing the clamp to get destroyed.

Santillan was arrested and brought to the office of the MTPB at the Manila City Hall where he was investigated for the proper filing of charges before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
