MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) was able to raise its collection by as much as 455.96 percent since the new city government took over on June 30.
In a report to Moreno, MTPB chief Dennis Viaje stated that for the month of November alone, the total collection made by the MTPB under Viaje reached a total of about P11 million.
As of end of November, Viaje reported that the total collection reached P79,766,119 million. This covers the period from July to November and registered an increase of P62,271,459 million or 455.95 percent, compared to the same five-month period last year where the income was only P17,494,660.
This means that on the average, the collection of the MTPB per month would be about P17 million, Moreno said.
‘Nagbawas pa kami ng mga parking spaces diyan dahil sa Mabuhay Lane. Ngayon ‘sokpa” lahat sa lungsod ang koleksiyon,’ Moreno told an interview.
Meantime, Moreno advised the public not to be duped by posers and always ask for receipts.
The MTPB personnel are tasked with aiding in manning traffic and managing the parking system in the entire city.
