Mystery shrouds toddler’s death

A 3-year-old girl met an untimely death in a suspected accident in their house Friday morning in Caloocan City. ..Ashley Mae Estaniel was rushed by her father to Our Lady of Grace Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival by Dr. Roy Lopez, her attending physician,  around 8:01 a.m. The incident, according to P/Lt. Joe Mar Ronquillo, chief of the Caloocan Police Station Investigation Unit (SIU), happened  around 7:15 a.m. in the victim’s house at 143 Maria Clara St., 7th Avenue, Bgy. 110, but was reported to the police past 1 p.m.

Witness Louie Jay Gomez, 29, told Caloocan Police chief  Col. Noel Flores that he was sleeping inside their house when he was awakened by a loud thud and saw the victim lying face down unconscious on the cement floor.

He immediately called the attention of the victim’s father Dexter Estaniel, who rushed the girl to the  hospital.

The victim’s family surmised that the girl stumbled and fell hard on the cement floor.
