National Capital Region Police Office conducts random checks on bus terminals

NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director Police Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar and Quezon City Police District director Police Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. yesterday inspected bus terminals to ensure the security preparations and protocols for the Holy week and summer vacation are in place.

They initially conducted inspection at the old bus terminal at Araneta Center, in Cubao, along with the Deputy District Director for Operations (DDDO) Col. Erson Digal and Cubao Police Station (PS 7) commander Lt. Col. Giovanni Hycenth Caliao.

Other bus terminals in Quezon City were also inspected and there were no major untoward incidents noted. They also distributed safety tips flyers to commuters.

Eleazar said the inspection aims to assess the security implementation as well as preparedness of the deployed policemen manning the safety of the passengers who will spend the Holy week in the provinces.

Eleazar said starting on Wednesday, the NCRPO will be placed on full alert status to ensure that the security preparations are properly implemented. Other agencies are also working with the PNP to ensure safety of the riding public. “Isa na dito ay ang isinasagawa ng PDEA na random drug testing sa mga bus drivers at kundoktor para masiguro na magiging maayos at ligtas ang paglalakbay ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
