NAVOTAS City Mayor Toby Tiangco is hoping that after more than two months of restriction, residents now learned the importance of precautionary measures to avoid being infected by coronavirus disease (COVID) 19.
Mayor Tiangco pointed out that as soon as the city will be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) tomorrow, Monday, residents will experience more relaxed quarantine measures compared to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) which prompted him to remind his constituents to maintain good health.
Despite the relaxed protocols, the mayor said residents should stay home or wear face mask when going out, observed social and physical distancing, wash hands frequently and disinfect their surroundings.
“Huwag po nating sayangin ang ating ginawang sakripisyo simula pa noong Marso. Alalahanin din natin ang mga frontliner at lahat ng mga binawian ng buhay dahil sa COVID-19. Pangalagaan po natin ang bawat isa. Nakasalalay po sa atin ang tagumpay sa laban sa COVID-19,” Mayor Tiangco said.
Under the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the elderly and the youth or those 60 years old and above and below 21 years old, who are considered as the vulnerable and the transmitters, respectively, must still stay at home under the GCQ.
Mayor Tiangco was among the mayors in Metro Manila who agreed to recommend that the National Capital Region (NCR) be placed from modified ECQ to GCQ after more COVID-19 patients continued to recover.
As of yesterday, the city of Navotas recorded four more recovered patients from Bgy. NBBN, Bgy. NBBS,_Dagat-Dagatan and Bgy. NBBS Proper while five persons with probable case from Bgy. Daanghari, Brgy. Navotas West, Bgy. NBBN, Bgy. NBBS Proper, and Bgy. Sanque tested positive from COVID-19.
