NBI official tests positive for COVID

July 31, 2020

JUSTICE Secretary Menardo Guevarra yesterday adviced officials and employees of the National Bureau of Investigation to take all necessary precautions to avoid contracting the dreaded COVID-19 disease.

This as Guevarra has disclosed that a ranking NBI official in Manila tested positive for COVID-19 during reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or swab testing.

"They have already taken the necessary precautions, including a temporary shutdown, contact-tracing, and self-quarantines" Guevarra said.

Guevarra refused to divulge the identity of the official who tested positive. "The official is in quarantine now," he said.

NBI is one of the attached agencies of the Department of Justice.

Last week, the NBI announced the temporary suspension of its clearance processing service to give way for the disinfection of its facilities.

The NBI resumed operation last Monday.
