NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director Major General Debold M. Sinas yesterday lauded officers and men of the NCR Internal Affairs Service for a well done discipline job during the implementation of the community quarantine in Metro Manila where they saw to it that NCRPO personnel would be on their toes as a result of their regular field inspection.
Headed by Brigadier Gen. Gerry T. Galvan, the NCR-IAS was tasked by Sinas to conduct regular field inspection and go after police officers and men who were either absent or committing infractions during the strict implementation of the community quarantine since last March 16.
During their inspection sorties, the NCR-IAS personnel subject all NCRPO men on duty to physical accounting and require them to adhere to the PNP ‘Tamang Bihis’ program and the quarantine rules and regulations. They also remind the police to stay away from drugs, gambling and other vices and to follow all police operational procedures, remain courteous and always treat the public with respect.
NCR-IAS inspectors led by Galvan have ‘punished’ on the spot a number of Metro Manila policemen who were caught using their mobile phones or are not in complete uniform, unshaven or not in proper attire during surprise inspections of police stations, Quarantine Control Points and other police facilities.
Maj. Gen. Sinas said that considering the increased number of police officers manning control points and checkpoints and conducting patrol all over the metropolis, NCR-IAS officers from Camp Bagong Diwa and the five other police districts intensified their surprise inspections ensure that all operational and administrative guidelines were strictly adhered to by police officers from the higher headquarters down to the smallest precinct.
As a result, the NCR-IAS noted a total of 126 absences and 29 infractions from March 15 to May 15 while Metro Manila was still under an Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Sinas guaranteed ‘zero-tolerance’ of his erring men and said that they will be given penalties once their cases are decided in accordance with due process.
Maj. Gen. Sinas said that their RIAS and the District IAS offices really play an important role in the effort of the NCRPO to cleanse their ranks of erring personnel who taint the good image of the organization and ruin the trust and confidence of the people of the Metro to their police.
