A SUSPECTED big-time drug trafficker  connected with several organized crime groups was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office in a buy-bust operation Saturday in Taguig City.

Suspect Alfredo Riñoza Jr., 31, of No. 2456 Bayani Street, Sta. Ana, Manila, yielded a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing 20 grams of suspected shabu worth P136,000 during the sting at Taguig Lakeshore on C6 Road, in Bgy. Old Lower Bicutan, at around 3:45 a.m.

When frisked, the suspect also yielded another plastic packet containing 30 more grams of shabu valued at 196,000.

NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said that when the suspect was about to be handcuffed, he tried to grab the service firearm of one of his arresting officers triggering a scuffle until the suspect was subdued.

Eleazar said the suspect is believed to be connected with the notorious “Macmac Boratong Drug Group” engaged in drug trafficking in Pasig City and nearby areas. The suspect was also said to be involved in kidnap-for-ransom, robbery-holdup and drug trafficking activities of an organized crime group whose leader Crispulo ‘Jekjek’ Moreno was killed in an encounter with members of the Manila Police District Station 6 on November 14, 2018.

Eleazar added that Riñoza was also connected to the illicit activities of Benedict ‘Jonjon’ Cortez, a son of the chairman of Barangay 228, Zone 21 in Tondo, Manila who was arrested by NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit operatives during an anti-narcotics raid last May 24.

The suspect is now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and direct assault on a person of authority, the Metro Manila police director said.

Eleazar commended members of the NCRPO-RDEU, the Taguig City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency who were involved in the successful buy-bust.
