THIRTEEN suspected illegal Loteng/EZ 2 gambling personnel in Quezon City were arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Unit Tuesday, NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said yesterday.
The official said that the arrests were made by his men in coordination with members of the Quezon City Police District Station 5 inside Block 1, Lot 24, Agoncillo Street in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, Q.C.
The illegal numbers’ game maintainer/operator identified as Alvin Quiapo was not around during the operation and was being hunted as of press time, Eleazar said.
“This is part of our ongoing implementation of President Duterte’s and Philippine National Police chief General Oscar Albayalde’s directive to intensify the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling activities in Metro Manila,” Eleazar said.
The arrested suspects and their role in the Loteng/EZ 2 operations were identified as Aldvin Elic, 43 (runner/bet collector); Ronelio Malabanan, 54 (table manager); Rustico Ilagan, 36 (checker); Larry Magcalas Jr., 29 (checker); Raymond Trinidad, 43 (runner); Jepoy Landeza,19, (checker); Avelino Macahasa, 66 (checker); Cezar Somera Jr. (checker); Rolando Valix Jr.,43 (checker); Joeward Ayson, 27 (checker); Efidencio Floresca, 58 (checker); Ereneo Salen, 39 (runner) and Christoper Placido, 41.
Eleazar said that one of the suspects was caught collecting bets from Loteng/EZ2 bettors. The arrested bet collector led the NCRPO-RSOU operatives to the house on Agoncillo Street where the rest of the suspects were nabbed as they were accounting for their collection.
Recovered during the raid were assorted illegal gambling paraphernalia including assorted bet receipts called “lastillas” with written numerical figures and P5,275 in different denominations.
Eleazar said that the 13 were charged with violation of Republic Act 9287 or the illegal numbers game law.
