AMID the celebration of National Teachers’ Day yesterday, Mayor Isko Moreno brought good news to the public school teachers in Manila.
Moreno told the teachers that they will have a special ward in the new Ospital ng Maynila (OM) which will begin construction next year.
The mayor made the announcement as he lauded the role of teachers in nation-building as well as shaping and creating the future leaders of the land.
“We all owe what we have become today to our teachers. They’re our country’s silent heroes,” Moreno said.
The mayor said that apart from a special ward, a special lane will also be accorded to public school teachers of Manila in the new OM should they need medical attention, which will be free of charge.
“This is our small way of honoring our teachers for all their love, patience and understanding just to instill discipline and knowledge to students,” Moreno said.
According to Moreno, the construction of a new and modern OM will definitely begin next year.
“The new OM will be at par with the country’s leading private hospitals in terms of services and facilities,” he assured the teachers.
